How to use a Ring Sling? Step 1

Ring Slings - Threading the Rings Instructions

Step 1: The fabric should not be twisted, while you hold the ring sling with the rings in one hand and the tail end, with the tag facing up, in the other.

Step 2: Start by gathering the fabric of the tail and passing the tail through the rings. The tag should be sandwiched in between the tail and the shoulder of the ring sling.

Step 3: Like threading a belt, you pass the tail back over the top ring and through the bottom rings.

Step 4: To make sure the fabric is not twisted, spread the fabric across the rings. To flatten the fabric as much as possible, pull the rails away from one another.

Ring Slings - Adjusting the Rings

Step 1: Pass the loop over your head, while holding the rings in one hand. With the tail end hanging down the front towards your feet, your rings should end up on the shoulder of your choice.

Step 2: Because the rings will move down while adjusting the sling, you should place the rings as high as possible. The best final placement should be just under your shoulder.

Step 3: Make sure the length of the sling suits your size. The lowest part of the sling pouch should be close to the same level as your belly button.

How to use a Ring Sling in different positions?

Ring Slings - Tummy to Tummy or Hip Carry Instructions

Step 1: While holding your baby up against your shoulder and supporting their weight, slide them into their sling pouch, so that the fabric rests near your baby’s knees. You can carry your baby on the chest or on the hip.

Step 2: Your baby should be positioned in a natural M-position seat. Your baby’s leg should be gently spread to the sides, while the knees should be in line with their belly button. Baby’s knees should be higher than their bottom.

Step 3: While still supporting your child, use the other hand to lift the panel behind your baby’s back.

Step 4: Make sure that the lower rail is reaching from one knee of your baby to the other and that there is plenty of fabric under their bottom. By reaching inside the sling in between your and your baby’s body and pulling the rail up towards your baby’s belly button, you make sure they are sitting in a deep seated position.

Step 5: Ensure to still support your baby’s weight, by gathering all excess fabric across baby’s back and bottom and moving it up the rings.

Step 6: By pulling the corresponding inside rail of the tail parallel to the top rail (directly across), you can tighten the top rail of the ring sling near baby’s neck.

Step 7: If needed, tighten the bottom rail of the sling as well by pulling the corresponding outside rail of the tail parallel to the bottom rail (directly down). But be careful to not tighten it too much, to maintain your baby’s deep sitting position. Their knees should still be higher than their bottom, there should still be knee coverage and fabric between both bodies.

Step 8: Spread the fabric widely across your back, to give the most comfortable caregivers support.

Step 9: To get more comfort, spread the sling evenly over the top of your shoulders. The perfect placement would be away from your neck and closer to your shoulder/upper arm.

Our Ring Sling baby carriers have a recommended weight range of 3.6 - 15.9 kg, providing comfortable carrying for newborns to toddlers in two positions: front newborn carry (legs in or legs out) and hip carry.
